South Dakota Athletic Trainers' Association
The South Dakota Athletic Trainers' Association is a professional organization of certified athletic trainers in the state of South Dakota. 

Regional Associations & Societies 

Mid America Athletic Trainers' Association 
Mid America Athletic Trainers' Association's mission is to enhance the professional and leadership abilities of the membership by providing encouragement, mentorship and improvement opportunities in the profession of athletic training. States represented include: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, & South Dakota. 

Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association
The Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association strives to enhance the quality of health care for the physically active, promote the athletic trainer and advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries. States represented include: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, & Wisconsin.

Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers' Association
The mission of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers' Association is to develop and promote the professional practice of athletic training. In doing so, they shall promote the core aspects of the athletic training profession, educate members on current issues and standards of care, and encourage networking among athletic training professionals. States represented include: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

National Associations & Societies 

American College of Sports Medicine 
The American College of Sports Medicine advances and integrates scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine.

American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine
The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's mission is to be the premier global, sports medicine organization representing the interests of orthopaedic surgeons and other professionals who provide comprehensive health services for the care of athletes and active people of all ages and abilities. 

American Physical Therapy Association
The American Physical Therapy Association is a U.S-based individual membership professional organization representing more than 100,000 member physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students of physical therapy.

College Athletic Trainer's Society
The College Athletic Trainer's Society is founded to provide high quality care to our student-athletes; to foster a close working relationship with organizations whose interests are to promote intercollegiate athletics; and to address the needs and concerns of full-time head and assistant athletic trainers at colleges and universities. 

National Athletic Trainers' Association 
The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession.

Board of Certification

Athletic Trainers (ATs) are healthcare professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education and training and the states' statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the healthcare team, services provided by ATs include injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a healthcare profession.
