Associations, Societies, and Organizations

North American Society for Sport Management 

NASSM is actively involved in supporting and assisting professionals working in the fields of sport, leisure and recreation. The purpose of the North American Society for Sport Management is to promote, stimulate, and encourage study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management - both theoretical and applied aspects. 


North American Society for the Sociology of Sport

The North American Society for the Sociology of Sport exists to promote, stimulate, and encourage the sociological study of play, games, sport and contemporary physical culture.


Sport and Recreation Law Association 

The Sport and Recreation Law Association aims to further the study and dissemination of information regarding legal aspects of sport and recreation. The Association addresses legal aspects of sport and recreation within both the public and private sectors.


Sport Marketing Association 

As the leading association for sport marketers, the SMA is dedicated to developing mutually beneficial relationships between professionals, academicians, and students around the world through creation, distribution, and implementation of sport marketing knowledge through networking, scholarly activities, and career opportunities.


International Association for Communication and Sport

IACS is an organization focused on the advancement of knowledge in the academic disciplines of communication and sport. Comprised of faculty, staff, and students, IACS hosts one annual conference for academic and applied presentations, keynotes, and conversation. 


Stadium Managers Association 

The objectives and purposes of SMA is to advance, foster and promote the professional and effective management of stadiums and similar facilities; to acquire, assemble, preserve, and disseminate valuable business information; to adopt standards of conduct and operation for the industry; and more.


Outdoor Industry Association 

Outdoor Industry Association is a membership-driven trade organization for the outdoor industry. In collaboration with our members, we are a force for the industry in recreation and trade policy, sustainable business innovation and increasing outdoor participation.


National Sporting Goods Association 

The National Sporting Goods Association provides information to and advocates for the sporting goods industry. NSGA members include retailers, institutional team dealers, wholesalers, manufacturers and industry associates.

The H.J. Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports

The Center is dedicated to: Acquiring and providing access to archival materials in the fields of physical culture and sports; Supporting and conducting humanities-based research related to health, human performance, competitive sport, physical culture, and the body; Preserving the history of physical culture and sports; and Educating the public about the cultural and scientific significance of physical culture and sports through publications, digitization, web-based initiatives, and museum exhibits.


The Sport Economist 

The Sports Economist is produced by a group of scholars who apply economic thinking to sports.

Sport Business provides news, insight, and opinions on sports and sporting; provides access to reports; and more.
